Melksham Town win Les Phillips cup 5-4 after penalty shoot out.
Melksham Town brought down a season which has seen them attain 3rd position in the league by winning the Les Phillips Cup for the first time in their history by beating Cribbs in a penalty shoot at Street in front of a healthy Town support.
The match finished 0-0 after 90 minutes with Melksham rueing Gary Higdons second half penalty miss and seeing the ball hit the woodwork on two separate occasions through efforts from Steve Hulbert and Sam Jordan.
With 20 minutes remaining the Town went down to 10 men when Hulbert received a second yellow although the numbers were evened up,shortly afterwards when Cribbs were also reduced to 10 with 10 minutes remaining.
Neither side were able to force a winner in extra time so the game went to penalties with Cribbs feeling confident after their 11-10 Semi final penalty win.
However after Town keeper Rob Brown saved Cribbs second spot kick the Town kept their nerves and Higdon,Ballinger,Hiscocks,Perrott and finally Davidson knocked home their kicks to give the Town the Cup by 5-4 on on Penalties.
